Richard Roberts: God told me to resign

For more: Read the latest ORU stories, view the lawsuit and other documents and watch slide shows and video.

Richard Roberts told Oral Roberts University students Wednesday that God spoke to him last Thursday and told him to resign. Students cheered and cried as Roberts spoke for about three minutes at the school's chapel service Wednesday, five days after his resigned as the school's president. Roberts told the students that God spoke to him Thursday and told him to step down. Roberts said he initially resisted the instructions, but God told him that if he would resign, the school would be blessed ''supernaturally.'' Roberts resigned Friday. On Tuesday, Yukon businessman Mart Green promised the school up to $70 million, more than enough to erase the school's debt.

The Savvy Shopper

Plus, it's better than any catwalk in Paris or Milan because it's the clothes real people actually wear.

But my version of reality television practically turned to the sci-fi channel's horror night. I actually saw a grown woman swaddled in a full-size fleece blanket. She wasn't the only atrocity. I should have been passing out those funny black bars fashion magazines use when they take a snapshot of a real person on the street that's a dreaded "fashion don't." (One of my fears in life is to open one of those magazines and see the black bar over my eyes. I'm fortunate my life allows these trivial concerns.) I realize comfort is a concern when we're all packed in planes like bargain basement bins. But, really. Must we literally roll out of bed? Here's where this savvy shopper can help.

Comfort does not equal giving up style. Let's start with your feet. This spring flats are everywhere. You don't have to smoosh your foot into a pointed toe shoe (though that's what this savvy shopper will be wearing). Ballet flats are big. If you can't imagine hoofing through the airport in those shoes, there are stylish sneakers on the market. Please don't bring your dirty, smelly old basketball shoes. No one wants to watch you take them off when you it's time to go through security.

Comfy pants are essential. Pajamas are not pants. Sweatpants don't count. Actual pants. Even a pair of nice jeans get a thumbs up from this frequent flyer. Plan for the changing temperatures. Your plane may actually feel like your destination the sweaty beaches of the Caribbean or the snowy mountains of Colorado. Pair a top with a blazer or jacket for a pulled together look that will help you no matter what the climate.

Why does this matter? It's no secret people who look nice and, above all, act nice get better treatment. Maybe that means getting bumped up to first class. Who doesn't want to fly through life with extra leg room?

Don't forget to let me know when you see a killer deal pass them along! I'll give them to all my new friends (aka you!) My e-mail is beth.wilkin@wtkr.com.

Ralph Kiner - 1955 :

Carter would spend the remainder of the 80's as one of the American Leagues top power hitters. An annual All-Star snub as a member of the Indians, Carter drove in 121 RBI in 1986, joined the 30/30 club in 1987, and registered 35 HR's and 105 RBI in 1989. December 6, 1989 - Indians Ship Slugger to Padres for Future Stars: This trade helped shape the great Indian teams of the 90's as they sent their top player Joe Carter to San Diego for C Sandy Alomar Jr. and 2B Carlos Baerga. Alomar is considered by most Tribe fans as the greatest catcher in team history and had a career year in 1997, winning All-Star MVP honors and leading the Tribe to the World Series. Baerga played a key role in the Indians World Series run of 1995 and was a three time All-Star as a member of the Tribe. June 28, 2002 - Tribe fans angered over trade with Expos: Yep, I was one of those angry fans the day GM Mark Shaprio sent All-Star pitcher Bartolo Colon to the Montreal Expos for 1B Lee Stevens and three prospects; P Cliff Lee, INF Brandon Phillips, and OF Grady Sizemore.

High noon in Iowa: one small state, one global decision

He glad-handed his way through the town's small college campus and spoke of his journey from a hard childhood in Arkansas to being the unlikely presidential frontrunner: 'I've really seen up close and personal the American dream. On my mother's side, I'm a generation away from dirt floors and outside toilets.'

Bill Richardson, Democratic governor of New Mexico, also took a swing through town. That followed the appearance of Hollywood actress Madeleine Stowe who was opening an office for John Edwards.

It has been like this in Newton for months. Hillary Clinton has held a rally in Newton's coffee shop. Obama spoke to a crowd of 300. Senator John McCain held a town hall meeting. Mitt Romney has visited numerous times. All will be back. In short, tiny Newton sees the sort of political action that cities like Seattle, Miami, San Francisco and Boston only dream of.
